Ow! 痛い!

April 30, 2010

Here I am, minding my own business, just about to write up a blog post for all of you. Well, in walks a very tired and cute looking cat, who proceeds to collapse on the floor roll onto his back and make cute little faces at me.

In my tired state, I foolishly decided to pet his fuzzy little head. I now possess a very well bandaged finger that managed to only drip twice on the floor while I headed toward medical attention.

So, with my stump finger bandaged and my eyes growing heavy, I decided to type up a fairly short post today. See, I was going to talk about how I’m trying to change my sleep schedule around a bit, but I think that’ll wait until tomorrow. For now, enjoy the very cute picture of Crisco. =P おやすみなさい!(Oyasumi nasai!) =D

Now that’s just sad…

April 29, 2010

So, I was looking over my stats page, and it seems someone found my page on a search engine by looking for, “I’ve got a headache”. I mean, I know I get them (and complain about them) a lot, but really? Ah well, hopefully they enjoyed my page anyway. =P

Well, as it turns out, my language exchange partner was just busy, so I got a reply today! =D I got in some Japanese practice today, but I’m going to have to admit to not putting in any work on my review. I know, I’m just awful.

Well, I did watch two episodes of Durarara today. I actually kind of forgot about it, which is a little sad. I probably should have tried watching some more Haruhi, but I didn’t. I think I could come up with a good excuse for that, but I’m so unbelievably tired right now, that I’m not going to bother. =P

I ended up watching Mythbusters today. They decided to test who has better pain tolerance, men or women (women won). Still, I’ve been really disappointed with the show lately. Even this last episode should have been so much better. They only used one method of inflicting pain, had only 25 of each sex try it, and they didn’t collect enough data to create any sort of real determination. To make the whole thing even worse, at the end of the episode they said that women have a better pain tolerance is confirmed, not plausible.

I don’t know, the show seems to have been going really down hill over the last couple of seasons. They’ve got too much scripted stuff added in, and instead of tracking down interesting myths, it seems they have to find something with an explosion for every episode. You know, those first couple of explosions were pretty cool, but I’m getting pretty tired of watching the same thing happen every episode.

Alright, I’m done ranting (I could go on, but I’m sure you’re getting tired of my rambling =P). I’m off to sleep. おやすみなさい!(Oyasumi nasai!) =D

O.o I’m terrible.

April 28, 2010

Well, it seems I forgot to make a post last night, and I didn’t remember that until just a few minutes ago. =\

I know, I’m a terrible person, but I’m bound to forget every now and then, right? =P So, anyway, time to talk about what’s new in my life. I actually haven’t heard from my language exchange partner in 5 days now. Under normal circumstances I would assume I said something that could have offended her, but I’ve re-read the e-mail, and there’s nothing that could be taken in a bad way.

Ah well, I’m sure she’s just been too busy to respond, I know I get that way sometimes. =P

So, what else have I been doing? I installed Elderscrolls II Daggerfall today. This was a surprisingly easy, and yet painfully difficult process. See, had the directions on the site actually been written properly, it really wouldn’t have been so bad. I mean, I’ve never used Dosbox before, so I wasn’t really in a position to notice the errors.

Once I finally got it installed, I had to fiddle around for an hour or so, just trying to get the emulated sound card working. You know, I had enough trouble getting real Sound Blaster 16s working back in the day, it can be outright mean to try and get a virtual one working. As it turns out, my processor was, somehow, too powerful. So, I had to cut it down a bit and all finally worked itself out.

Still, after having fiddled with both Wine and now Dosbox, I think Dosbox is the better software, just seems more polished.

Alright, it’s absurdly late, and I’ve got one more thing to do around here before I can head off to sleep. おやすみなさい!(Oyasumi nasai!) =D

Cleaned up the Links section a bit.

April 26, 2010

While I didn’t add anything else new, I did clean up the section a bit. It was always my plan to divide my links up a bit, once I started adding more of them.

I got in some Japanese review today, but not as much as I was hoping to do. Today the day just seemed to sort of fly by, I didn’t end up getting a chance to do quite a few things that I was planning on doing.

I know what you’re thinking, oh great, he didn’t work on the review again. Well, you’re wrong. I did end up putting in some work on my review, and I’m hoping to have it finished in the next couple of days.

So, what else is new in my little world? Well, not much. I’ve actually been pretty terrible about some of the things I’ve been meaning to do lately. Believe it or not, I still haven’t watched another episode of Haruhi, and I really did enjoy the first one. Then again, I’ve still got 16 or so episodes of Gundam Zeta to watch (man I love Universal Century =P), so I really should try to spend some time with those soon.

You know, after 168 posts (yes, really), I’m having some trouble coming up with interesting ways to say that I’m going to be heading off to bed. I always figured it would be coming up with an exciting topic for the day that I’d have the most problem with, but it always seems to be the title and how I’m going to end it that give me pause.

So, now that that’s off my chest, I really must be heading off to sleep. おやすみなさい!(Oyasumi nasai!) =D

Links added!

April 25, 2010

See, I didn’t nearly go to bed without adding new links for everyone to enjoy. *whistles innocently* =D

Well, I decided to start adding in some of the links of useful sites I’ve found. My initial, “Japanese Links” seems to be getting a bit crowded, so I think I’ll split off language learning to its own section tomorrow night.

Well, believe it or not, I got another headache today. It’s one of those things that would almost tempt you to get an allergy test done, but then you realize that knowing what’s in the air that’s causing it wouldn’t really help anyway. =P

I tried to get together with my language exchange partner on Skype today, but it seems our schedules didn’t really match up. Ah well, these things happen.

Tomorrow I’m going to try and get a decent amount of work done on my Rosetta Stone review, just because I’ve been pretty bad about it lately. I really need to sit down for a few hours and dig through the program for some screenshots, but it’s getting a bit late to really put in any work on that right now. =P

So, it’s that time again. It seems that I must leave you all, if only for a little while. But fear not, I actually did some updates to my page, and more shall be coming in the future! =D おやすみなさい!(Oyasumi nasai!) =D

It’s alive!

April 24, 2010

After 12 very long days, my computer is finally up and running again! =D It’ true what they say, you never know how much you’ll miss something until it’s gone. =P

Well, despite my grand plans of what all I was going to do once I got my computer back, I didn’t end up doing much with it today. I’ve been pretty tired all day, and I just seem to be lacking the energy I would need. =P

So, what all do I have planned for my site? Well, over the next few days, I plan to update the links section, finish my Rosetta Stone review, start my Tuttle Flashcards review and I’m sure I’ll come up with some other things to add to this page.

I know I’ve been pretty bad about updates lately, and the video card dying didn’t help matters, so I feel like I should put in some extra time now that I’ve got my computer back.

Aside from page updates, I’m going to be creating some digital Kanji flashcards to work on, setup vocab lists, load up Skype again, and generally spent more time with my language learning again. =P

Alright, I know I’m keeping this one short today, but I already metioned that I was tired. I should at least be adding some links tomorrow, so there should be something to look forward to. おやすみなさい!(Oyasumi nasai!) =D

An intersting day!

April 23, 2010

Well, I’ve had an exciting day, all things considered. First of all, my package tracking now says that they will be delivering it tomorrow, so I should be all up and running soon! =D

So, what did I do on my last day without a computer? Well, I tried out the lost planet 2 demo. Considering I’ve never played the original, I managed to get the hang of it pretty easily. It’s pretty good, but I don’t think a game like that would hold my attention for very long. =\ Well, after that I ended up checking out Cinemax. As it turns out, they added the latest Terminator movie, which I hadn’t seen before. I decided to give it a chance.

I can’t really call it a bad movie (like the third one), but it wasn’t a particularly good movie either. The direction is pretty horrible, and a lot of the movie seems pretty forced. But, this is another movie that I could honestly say, if you ignore the source material, it’s not a bad action flick. I guess it really depends on what you go into it expecting. I knew this movie was going to be bad going into it, so it kind of surprised me by being an okay action flick. I guess it has more to do with the fact that, while I enjoyed the first two movies, I wouldn’t consider myself much of a fan. I have to be honest, I haven’t even checked out a single episode of the series they created (which could actually be good, I just wouldn’t know =P).

As if the above wasn’t enough, I got hit with a headache that I couldn’t seem to touch with medicine. But, all was not lost, as about 2 hours later, it vanished for no good reason. =P Well, that’s my exciting news for the evening. At least I’ll be able to get in some good Japanese practice tomorrow, and I might even get some work done on my Rosetta Stone review. =P Of course, I am assuming the card they mailed me is going to work. As I already told you, I’ve received a dead card before. =\

Well, all that aside, we’ll find out tomorrow. For now, I’m off to sleep. おやすみなさい!(Oyasumi nasai!) =D
